LMS6002D configurable broadband transceiver IC

The LMS6002D is a fully integrated multi-band, multi-standard single-chip RF transceiver for 3GPP (WCDMA/HSPA and LTE), 3GPP2 (CDMA2000) and WiMAX applications.

It can be digitally configured to operate in 16 user-selectable bandwidths up to 28MHz. The LMS6002D incorporates a multiplicity of RF inputs and outputs to enable features such as GSM Listen Mode required for femtocell operation. Integrated high performance 12-bit ADC and DAC blocks mean the device can be interfaced directly to any femtocell baseband IC on the market. The LMS6002D has a standard Serial Port Interface (SPI) for programming and includes provision for a full calibration function. The device combines LNA, PA driver, RX/TX mixers, RX/TX filters, synthesizer, RX gain control, and TX power control with very few external components.

The LMS6002D replaces several individual transceiver chips and allows a small basestation to be reconfigured rapidly and simply. This enables a considerable reduction in size, time to market, bill of materials and inventory for OEMs. Fine tuning has resulted in performance optimisations which will allow OEMs to use fewer peripheral components, further reducing bill of materials and costs for femtocells.

EVB6002-1 Evaluation platform for LMS6002D

EVB6002-1The EVB6002-1 is a general purpose evaluation board intended to allow evaluation and testing of the LMS6002 family of multi-band multi-standard RF transceiver ICs. It is also intended to act as a guide to the best layout, decoupling and matching practices for implementing front end radio designs.
